Friends who are trying Salvia for the first time often ask me: when I try Salvia, should I use a pipe or a bong, or should I just put it in a joint? The part of the answer is straightforward: don’t think that you can smoke it just using a joint: it simply won’t work.

The next part of the answer is annoyingly vague: it depends. It depends on a number of variables, with your preferences being the number one deciding factor. Next is the type of Salvia that you are using (and the amount); then there is the perhaps major problem of the equipment that you have available. The only way to really know is to go out and try both a pipe and a bong. Decide yourself.

Some people say that the smoke is harsh on their lungs. I don’t find this a problem but it’s common enough for me to accept that the problem exists! In this case you may want to consider the benefits of the cooling water of the bong on the smoke. Cooler smoke may mean less harsh smoke which is more easily taken back.

Smoking Salvia is a fantastic experience which I believe everyone should try. Decide for yourself, it’s the only way.
