Making short- and long term plans is essential for any business. It is doubly essential in a home based business where your business’ existence can depend on a single bad decision or wrong move. Planning eliminates the damage that these single decisions can make, and helps you to avoid situations where such a decision could be a factor in the first place.

Many people think that their home based business goals are ‘make lots of money’ or ‘get a nice car’. In fact they’re wrong. Their goals are to build up the business to such a level where this is possible: money, cars and material wealth must always be second to a successful business, by definition.

Reasons for starting your own home based business are different to the goals you have while starting them. Reasons will probably include cutting down the commute, getting away from a dreary job, and making more time for you and your family. All are great reasons, but again they are ultimately predicated with the need to be successful in your home based business.

Work hard at your home based business and you will meet your goals and plans for the future. Without hard work, goals and plans are nothing at all.
