Phuket bars come in all sorts of different shapes and sizes. Most are relatively inexpensive, most are relatively small, and most are thoroughly enjoyable places to be. Many people go to Phuket on vacation just to experience the Phuket bars, and well they should: this definitely an experience not to be missed.
Bangla road is often quoted as the centre of entertainment in Phuket. This 600m long road contains hundreds of bars, restaurants, market stalls and night clubs. The street has many side streets (a side street is known as a ‘Soi’) that contain even more bars and other entertainment.
The establishments in the Soi are usually grouped together and are related. Usually each Soi will have one DJ that will provide music for all the bars and clubs on that Soi. As I said: Phuket bars really are an interesting experience, and definitely one not to be missed.
Some of the bigger Sois – full of Phuket bars in this style – are: Soi Easy, Soi Gonzo, Soi Eric, Soi Lion, Soi Crocodile… there are so many to explore! If you’ve got limited time in Phuket then try not to get bogged down in just one Soi as they each have their own very unique atmosphere.
