Phuket nightlife tips
A new type of club is emerging onto the Phuket nightlife. This is a club that is less concerned with pleasing tourists and more concerned with playing new music to its adoring fans. Huge names in the world of dance music – names like Judge Jules, jo Mills and Louie Vega – have been paying visits to the secluded vacation spot. Are the locals taking to this new music? It’s not entirely caught fire like it has on the mainland, but it is getting there.
This kind of club has changed the Phuket nightlife for the better in many ways. Gone are the endless, staid, Thai-style clubs that revolve around friends, a table, and dancing to the local cover band. I like these clubs as much as the next man but when that’s all there is to Phuket nightlife they can be a little samey. These clubs still exist, and they still dominate the market, they just do not dominate in quite the same way that they used to.
In the slightly more touristy areas of the island are the bread and butter of tourist clubs: popular dance classics played to an audience that is keen on drinking cheap booze. Again, these clubs have their place but the Phuket nightlife definitely needed an injection of ‘new’ to keep it alive.
