I am a huge fan of the mantra “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!”. Unfortunately this only works up to a point, and even I have to admit that I’m being left behind in some aspects of life. I really do love my 1940’s car, and it is still working like a dream (well, comparatively speaking), but I really do believe that it’s getting a little impractical.
The filesharing equivalent of this 1940s car is the Ares Galaxy filesharing software that I use. It works well and in its day it was up at the top of the metaphorical Ares tree. Time has passed, though, and Ares Galaxy hasn’t moved with it. Just as there are other, better, models of car to be had, so there are far superior versions of the Ares filesharing software ready to be used.
I bit the bullet and went to swap my Ares software (the car can wait for now). Except… wait… what to do? There are lots of new versions and they all seem great. I have difficult choice ahead.
Fortunately someone else (the OfficialAres.com website to be precise) has done the job for me! They have helpfully reviewed all of the big players in the business and provided their honest and forthright opinions on the matter. Very helpful for someone stuck in the past like me!
